The Crowd
Our project combines ideas of crowdsourcing the research process with open and participatory science. Central to our success, is therefore the voluntary contribution of time and effort made by a crowd of over 100 researchers, from 19 different countries. Without their valuable contributions, this project would not be possible.
The systematic review in Work Stream 1 and its continuous update are undertaken using crowdsourcing techniques. Given the technical nature of the project, volunteer reviewers need to have some previous training or experience in systematic reviews and ideally also in mental health. We have a large network of volunteers who screen the study search results and extract data in a web-based extraction form. The process is centrally managed by an experienced reviewer (Natalie Peter) using parts of the crowdsourcing technique "Crowd Research" which was successfully used to manage more than 1000 volunteer researchers.
